Double-Side Precision Grinding Automation Cell for Diamond Tool Discs
▲ Double-side precision grinding automation cell for diamond tool discs (3D rendering)
Process Overview
A dry precision grinding cell that fully automates the double-side grinding of diamond cutting discs (circular tools) using a 6-axis collaborative robot. Workpieces arranged on a foam tray are picked up by vacuum suction and loaded onto the central spindle, while left and right servo-driven grinding wheels precisely machine both faces of the disc simultaneously. The coolant-free dry method produces no wastewater, and independent left/right control panels with real-time monitoring ensure uniform quality and continuous productivity.

Key Components
6-Axis Collaborative Robot (Vacuum Suction)
Handles workpiece pick-up, transfer, and discharge via vacuum-suction pick-and-place. Safe cell operation based on a collaborative robot.
Double-Side Precision Grinding Unit
The disc is fixed on a central rotating spindle while left and right servo-driven grinding wheels precisely machine both faces simultaneously.
Material Feed Tray
Foam-tray aligned feeding loads multiple diamond discs for stable, continuous supply.
Integrated Control System
Independent left/right HMIs, frequency (speed) control, a three-color signal tower, and real-time monitoring manage the status.
Dry Machining Process
Coolant-free dry grinding minimizes wastewater and post-processing burden — an eco-friendly process.
Stainless Open Frame
A front-open stainless structure providing excellent maintenance and work accessibility for the cell frame.
